Introducing The Nourisher Podcast: The Story Behind the Mic

Updated: Mar 19

One of my favorite past times is patio time or a good glass of wine with my girlfriends, catching up on life, and most importantly...showing up for them. Have you ever had happy hour or coffee with a gal pal, and the conversation goes beyond "How's work going? How are the kids? What do you have going on this week?" DUH. It always goes beyond surface-level, small talk or at least it should. That's the story behind The Nourisher Podcast. I wanted to take those vulnerable and meaningful conversations and share them with the world.

So, how did I get here?

In 2022, I really ramped up my efforts in the influencer marketing space. Fashion has always been a passion of mine from a very young age. People would always ask me where I got my clothes or where to shop - if I can make money off of it, why not? Not to mention, I was going THROUGH it in my personal life (we'll save that story for a rainy day). I needed a distraction. I set my sights on getting a large enough following and consistent content to be approved for an LTK creator account. I was blessed to work with local boutiques, department stores, and other small businesses in town. But there was always something inside of me that felt kind of "off" about influencing women to purchase a pair of jeans for $100-$200 (in this economy?). Although I was garnering attention from other potential business partners, I became dependent on the number of likes, views, comments, or sales each post was producing. Keep in mind, I was completely disconnected from what was actually happening in my life - a slow death of who I thought I was. Fast forward to when I went through my divorce, of course I'm clinging onto anything that allows me to cover up my problems (i.e. social media/influencing).

Obviously, when you're going through such a traumatic and emotional experience, you spend a lot of time around the people you love - friends, family, and a therapist. I started yearning for conversations where I felt heard or understood. There were LOTS of tears. For the first time in my life, I felt like I was allowing others to see me allowing myself be vulnerable. I learned so much more about my friends and the women in my life. And after every interaction, I left feeling fulfilled. My heart was full. I gained my hope back. I got to thinking...if I can feel all of this after one conversation, how could this impact the people around me? I want all the women in my life to feel this, especially in darkness.
